Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has defended the agriculture minister, Bryan Acheampong, against critics who misinterpreted Acheampong’s statement about not handing over power to the National Democratic Congress (NDC)
In his remarks during a health walk in Kwahu, Acheampong reiterated his stance from 2023, asserting that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would not relinquish power to the opposition NDC in the upcoming 2024 general elections. He questioned why a party that consistently loses elections would seek power at all costs.
A Plus, however, sees nothing wrong with Acheampong’s statement. In a Facebook post, he dissected its meaning: “What is wrong with this statement? ‘You won’t win, and if you don’t win, we won’t hand over power to you.’ Did he say if you win, they won’t hand over power? Have you ever witnessed a party coming to power after losing an election? Work hard and win,” A Plus emphasized.
Furthermore, A Plus urged responsible allocation of funds to grassroots workers within the party. He cautioned against practices that occurred during the 2020 elections, where some individuals accepted favors like banku and tilapia, fried rice and chicken, potentially compromising the electoral process. His conclusion was unequivocal: “If you don’t win, you won’t ascend to power! It’s an undeniable fact!”
