Erik ten Hag has said that he was not signed by Manchester United to play the “Ajax way” of football. The Dutch manager, who joined United from Ajax in the summer, has come under some pressure for his team’s performances this season.

Speaking to Viaplay Sport, ten Hag said: “They did not sign me to play the Ajax way. They signed me to win games.

“I want to develop a project here in the same way that I did at Ajax. To win games in an adventurous way, and I think I have been able to show that in multiple games.”

Ten Hag has been criticized for his team’s lack of attacking flair this season. However, he has argued that he needs time to implement his philosophy at the club.

“We are still in the process of building a team,” he said. “It takes time to develop a winning mentality. But I am confident that we will get there.”

Here are some key points from ten Hag’s interview:

  • He wants to develop a winning project at Manchester United.
  • He believes in playing attacking football.
  • He needs time to implement his philosophy at the club.

It will be interesting to see how ten Hag’s project develops at Manchester United. He is a talented manager with a proven track record, but he will need to be patient in order to achieve success at Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag’s philosophy

Ten Hag is a proponent of a possession-based style of play. He believes in playing football with a high tempo and a focus on attacking.

At Ajax, ten Hag was able to implement his philosophy successfully. He led the club to two Eredivisie titles and a Champions League semi-final.

However, ten Hag has found it more difficult to implement his philosophy at Manchester United. The club has a number of talented players, but they are not used to playing in a possession-based style of play.

Ten Hag will need to be patient in order to change the culture at Manchester United. He will also need to find a way to get his players to buy into his philosophy.

Ten Hag’s future at Manchester United

It is too early to say whether ten Hag will be a success at Manchester United. He is a talented manager with a proven track record, but he will need time to implement his philosophy at the club.

If ten Hag is given time, he has the potential to be a success at Manchester United. However, he will need to be patient and he will need to find a way to get his players to buy into his philosophy.
