With the release of iOS 18.3, Apple has activated its AI suite, known as Apple Intelligence, by default. Here’s a guide for users around the globe on how to turn off these features on their devices:
On iPhone or iPad:
- Access Settings: Open the ‘Settings’ app on your device.
- Navigate to AI Settings: Scroll to and tap on “Apple Intelligence & Siri.”
- Disable AI: Flip the toggle next to “Apple Intelligence” to the off position. A prompt will appear asking for confirmation; select “Turn Off Apple Intelligence” to proceed.
On Mac:
- Open System Settings: Click the Apple logo in the top-left corner of your screen to open the menu, then select “System Settings.”
- Find Apple Intelligence: In the settings menu, locate and click on “Apple Intelligence & Siri.”
- Deactivate AI: Turn off the switch next to “Apple Intelligence” and confirm by clicking “Turn Off” when asked.
By following these steps, users can opt out of Apple’s AI enhancements, which include features like intelligent writing tools, notification summaries, and advanced visual recognition. However, certain functionalities like the Clean Up tool in Photos might still work post-disablement, as they could be part of separate downloads.
