The Ghanaian Hiplife star Obrafour has filed a lawsuit against Canadian rapper Drake for copyright infringement in the song “Calling My Name” off of his “Honestly, Nevermind” album from the year 2022.
According to the court filing, 3news.com reports that Obrafour declined Drake’s request to use the remix of his song “Oye Ohene” featuring Tinny, but Drake nevertheless went forward with the action.
Drake is being sought after for “at least $10 million in damages” by Obrafour, actual name Michael Elliot Kwabena Okyere Darko, who through his attorneys filed the lawsuit in the Southern District of New York.
Ghanaian social media users expressed their opinions and vowed to monitor the case because it is interesting to many when news of the lawsuit first became public.
In November 2022, Drake and 21 Savage, who collectively have a net worth of $250 million, were sued for using the Vogue brand and trademark in their joint album “Her Loss” without permission.
