Popular Ghanaian musician Kuami Eugene recently faced a harrowing experience when he was involved in a car accident. The incident occurred late on Sunday night, sending shockwaves through the entertainment industry. Fortunately, the artist survived the collision, but not without injuries.
The Accident: Around 11:30 PM, Kuami Eugene’s vehicle collided with a tipper truck near CP, close to the DSTV office on the highway. Eyewitnesses reported that the musician was driving his Range Rover (GC – 220-21) when the accident happened. The impact occurred as he rammed into the tipper truck from behind.
Injuries and Immediate Response: Local journalist Emmanuel Ajarfor Abugri, who happened to be at the scene, promptly arranged for a vehicle to transport Kuami Eugene and another person to the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC). The artist appeared to have sustained a broken arm, cuts, and a hip injury. Ajarfor attributed the accident to inadequate lighting along the N1 Highway and the absence of tail lights on the tipper truck, which hindered visibility as it moved slowly.
Kuami Eugene’s Background: Born Eugene Kwame Marfo, Kuami Eugene rose to prominence after participating in the local music reality TV show MTN Hitmaker. His talent and creativity have led to multiple hit songs and three successful albums: “Rockstar” (2018), “Son of Africa” (2020), and “Love and Chaos” (2023). Notably, he inked a deal with American distribution company EMPIRE in 2020.
Trends and Concerns: Kuami Eugene’s accident adds to a concerning trend of road incidents in Ghana. Last September, fellow Ghanaian singer Wendy Shay was also involved in a car crash under similar circumstances. Road safety remains a critical issue, and efforts to improve lighting and visibility are essential to prevent such accidents.
Despite the challenges, Kuami Eugene’s management has yet to release an official statement. However, reports suggest that he is in good spirits following treatment for his injuries. We wish him a speedy recovery and hope for safer roads for all.
