Harold Amenyah, a Ghanaian actor, shared an intriguing story about how, as he tried to get to know his wife, she would frequently email him links to prayer gatherings, such as the well-known Alpha Hour.
Irene initially refused to give Harold her number when they first met at a friend’s party, but he eventually obtained it via their common acquaintance and texted her. This is how Harold recalled their encounter.
“This is Harold,” I texted her once I got home. From your acquaintance, I received your phone number. Since I didn’t hear back right away, I misplaced my phone. I slept because it was late, he claimed.
Harold claims that Irene responded to his text message inquiry by sending him links to “Alpha Hour” prayer gatherings.
“Okay, you’re meeting this person for the first time, and they’re sending you a link to a prayer meeting, I was like. “Okay, what is this thing?” I thought to myself.
“I contacted her when I woke up, checked the link she sent me, and discovered it was a prayer meeting. She cut right to the invitation to join the prayer session, skipping all the information I wanted to know about her, Harold said.
Irene was initially reluctant to talk to Harold about anything personal, but he persisted.
She would ignore his messages all day long, finally responding with a link to a prayer request at midnight.
We briefly communicated the following morning, and in the evening she emailed me another link to the Alpha Hour, but after that I didn’t hear from her for the rest of the day. When it was twelve o’clock in the morning, she would send me a link to pray but otherwise disregard my messages, he continued.
Irene’s preference for spirituality above interpersonal interactions attracted Harold, and this made him like her even more, he said.
He talked about how he started going to the prayer meetings and gradually got to know Irene better, which resulted in a lovely relationship that ultimately ended in marriage.
